Robert E。 Howard's Conan tales get the GURPS treatment， and I figure that's not a bad system by which to be bestriding the Hyborian Kingdoms: enough crunch for grit， enough flex for pulp， and it's easy enough to de-emphasise magic and make it properly spooky and evil。The book itself is a great gazetteer of Howard's world， although with rather more prosaic detail than will probably be useful to a party of roving mercenaries and thieves。 Still， if you want to know the dominant crops grown on the p Robert E。 Howard's Conan tales get the GURPS treatment， and I figure that's not a bad system by which to be bestriding the Hyborian Kingdoms: enough crunch for grit， enough flex for pulp， and it's easy enough to de-emphasise magic and make it properly spooky and evil。The book itself is a great gazetteer of Howard's world， although with rather more prosaic detail than will probably be useful to a party of roving mercenaries and thieves。 Still， if you want to know the dominant crops grown on the pastures of Shem， you're covered。 We also get several started-up versions of Conan himself taken from various points in his career， so if you want to chart his Broadsword skill as it rises to surreal heights by the time he takes the throne of Aquilonia， this is the book for you。Hopefully you also know exactly what kind of campaign you want to run， as GURPS Conan is rather thin on frames and adventure seeds。 Modern gamers want to be presented with a wide array of story hooks and narrative opportunities， not dry data。 This， however， is a pretty old school book and assumes for the most part you're supplying the imagination that isn't already being lifted from REH。Not a forgotten classic by any stretch， GURPS Conan is still a worthwhile grab for anyone gaming in the Hyborian space， regardless of system。 。。。more
